A fresh look

Starting tomorrow our house is getting a make-over. It has been a little hectic to say the least trying to plan how to spend a weekend away from your house while staying in town. Not looking forward to moving everything when I get home late from class tonight, but it will all be worth it in the end.

Dedication

I haven't really been watching much of the Olympics, until the last few days. I am just amazed at how much work these athletes put into their sport. It really takes a certain kind of person to be that motivated and dedicated...and I am not that certain kind of person. I also wonder, how does one "get into" the skeleton or some of the other offbeat random sports? I just can't imagine Cole saying, "Hey mom, I want to be a luger." So props to the parents who believe that their kid really does want that and make the effort to get them involved.

Updates and Pictures

*sigh* It's been a long while since I posted. My husband always said that in order for people to get into a blog, the blogger must post at least once a day. Obviously, I'm not doing my part.

We've all been sick lately. Ben started us off with sore throat/fever/aching, followed by Cole with bad cold/gunky cough/fever, followed by me with sore throat/bad cold/cough, followed by Cole with pink eye/ear infection/painful teething. What a load of fun huh? But God has blessed Cole (and us) with wonderful sleep through the night with a few minor wake ups a couple times. He is really a trooper!

After Cole's dedication weekend, we spend the following weekend in Duluth, MN with some wonderful friends of ours, Joel, Heather and Isaac Johnson. They used to be our neighbors here in Blaine and recently moved "up nort". We miss having them close by, but enjoy the fact that they moved to a great place to visit! Cole and Isaac had fun playing, Heather and I had fun gabbing and Ben and Joel had fun playing too! :) They took us out to dinner to the famous Grandma's restaurant. And were lovely hosts - Heather knows how to host, let me tell you! Thanks Johnsons!!

We ended our weekend back in Blaine spending Valentine's Day together. Cole got a few Valentine's from his Nana and Grandpa Walls and his Oma and Opa Wegner. I think he liked them!

Cole has also been busy learning new tricks. I turn my back for one second and the next thing I know...

Oy! That boy can move! :)

Just this past weekend we enjoyed a trip to LaCrosse for my beautiful niece Maggie's baptism. I have the honor of being her godmother (as well as her big sister Ellie's). It was a very nice service and Maggie did wonderfully.

So, there you have it, our last couple of weeks in a nutshell. This next weekend is going to be crazy as we have a guy coming in to start installing our new floors! Yahoo!

Happy Monday!

Sorry

Sorry I've been away for a bit. We were out of town this past weekend visiting friends in Duluth and we've all been sick. I have been meaning to post a few pics of Cole as he learned a new trick recently! So, I promise to update you all very soon...if I have any readers that is. :)

Dedicated

Our son is now officially dedicated. We had both sides of our family in town this weekend to attend Cole's dedication at church. It was a very nice service and Cole did a fantastic job. I was a little worried that when Pastor Jimmy was holding him, he would rip the mike off of him and then attack his glasses as well. But he just stared at him and then gave him a little hug at the end. ;) What a sweet boy! If you notice in the picture below, they showed a picture of each child as they were praying for them and when Cole's picture came up, everyone went "Awwww". Enough to make a mom proud! :) Thanks Patrice for the wonderful picture!

After the service, we got together back at our house for lunch and hanging out. Thanks families for coming and celebrating with us! We appreciate all of you!

Earlier this weekend, we had some fun at the pool with my family at a hotel down the road. This was Cole's second time swimming. I think he liked it a little better this time as the water was super warm. Still a little overwhelming for him though. So we give him a chew toy and he's fine.

Ben spent most of the weekend in bed. He has been sick. Either that or he put on a good act to get out of all of the preparation for today! And Mr. Cole's cold has moved into his chest. He woke up last night wheezing and freaked his mother out! He still sounds like he has quite a bit of junk in his chest so I may take him in tomorrow to get him checked out.

Well, enough rambling. Time to get ready for bed. Have a good night.

Blessed

It's days like today where I feel immensely blessed to have the choice of working from home. We got some snow last night and I normally go into work (almost 40 miles from home) on Mondays and Tuesdays and then work from home the rest of the week. That in itself is awesome! But when I leave my house and turn onto the highway only to stop and sit in traffic, I know it's going to be a long drive to work. So, because my boss is so flexible, he just lets me stay home on days like this and make up my time at the office another day of the week. Thank you God! It sure beats sitting in three hours of creeping traffic.

Weekend and Floors

We had a nice weekend. We caught up on some much needed family time. Ben has been so crazy busy with work and school that sometimes it feels like we're just roommates passing each other by. I know it's only for a season though and hopefully this school thing will be well worth it when he's done.
I'm so excited though because we are going to be redoing our floors on our first level! (I say first, making it sound like we have multiple. How about main level?) Currently we have ugly blue linoleum in our bathroom and kitchen. And then our living and dining rooms have a light cream colored carpet. Now I have to be sexist and assume that a man planned the light carpet in the dining room...a man without children for sure! Who does that!? So, we'll be doing the bath/kitch/dining with a wood laminate and then re-carpet the living room. SO excited!! Now we just have to pick what we want, which could prove to be a harder task than we thought.
Happy Monday!
